Fundamental to Get Golfing’s pedigree is the development of our staff way beyond what is conventional in the United Kingdom.

We fully fund college education, training courses and work experience. We currently operate programmes with Troon Golf to provide work experience in the Middle East on their golf operations, and Pelican’s Nest (Florida) where aspiring course managers spend three months during the winter working with experienced management in the US developing their knowledge and skills in turfgrass management and course preparation. All these work experience and training programmes are fully funded by Get Golfing.

    Get Golfing CIO, one of the UK’s fastest-growing golf and hospitality operators, is looking for a Deputy Course Manager to support the growth of its flagship venue.

    Redlibbets Golf and Country Club was designed and built in the 1990’s on a naturally free-draining site and has all the benefits of modern construction methods with USGA specification greens, tees and approaches and a fully automated irrigation system.

    The owners pride themselves, as golfers of ability, on the presentation of the course. The par-72 design measures 6,572 yards from the black tees but can play shorter as each hole benefits from three sets of tees. The parkland course boasts mature beech, oak and chestnut trees which creates the backdrop to this beautiful course. In terms of playability, the holes vary significantly with length from the tee being a benefit on the par-5’s, but there is no substitute for accuracy.

    The Deputy Course Manager position is an integral part of the club’s management structure and forms a very strong link between senior management and the greenkeeping team. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach, be self-motivated, a natural leader of people, able to teach, train and guide members of the team with empathy, humility and patience. Candidates must have good greenkeeping skills, agronomic knowledge and a reasonable understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH and other legislative matters.

    For candidates to be considered they must meet all the following criteria :

    • Educated to a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent
    • At least 8 years greenkeeping experience
    • PA1, 2 & 6a Spraying certificates
    • Experience with irrigation maintenance, repair and use
    • Knowledge of machinery maintenance
    • Excellent communication skills & IT literacy
    • Ability to lead and motivate staff, along with and in the absence of the Course Manager

    Desirable criteria :

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as senior/first assistant or deputy
    • Chainsaw certificate
